Cathedral Stone Products Welcomes, Trains Pratt Institute’s Historic Preservation Students
Leading North American manufacturer and distributor of masonry restoration products educates future preservationists on proper historic masonry renovations
Hanover, Md. - January 28, 2008 - Cathedral Stone® Products will host a group of graduate students from the Pratt Institute’s historic preservation department next month. During the visit, Cathedral Stone’s experts will conduct hands-on training to help these future preservationists navigate the complex field of masonry restoration.
Pratt students will have the benefit of learning techniques, processes, and testing methods from Cathedral Stone’s expert masons and technicians, who create restoration products and application methods that are proven to stand the test of time—and the elements.
The program will include a wide range of activities such as analyzing the physical properties of substrates, evaluating masonry failures, reviewing products, and learning the best practice techniques for repairing and color-matching products to a structure’s original masonry.
Cathedral Stone introduced North America’s first masonry restoration program to the trade in 1984. Since then, the company has trained thousands of installers—in the U.S., Canada, and Europe—in the proper application and finishing techniques of masonry materials.
Cathedral Stone conducts regular onsite trainings and educational training programs at its headquarters in Hanover, Md. Its training experts also travel to architecture and engineering firms, universities, and historic sites throughout North America. Those interested in scheduling a masonry restoration training program should contact Cathedral Stone at 800-684-0901 or
